Sofia, a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Functional Consultant, brings a wealth of knowledge and a vibrant personality to our team. Here’s a glimpse into her journey and experiences at Synovia Digital.
Sparking Interest in Dynamics 365
Q: What initially sparked your interest in becoming a Functional Consultant for Dynamics 365?
Sofia Carrillo: To be honest, when I first stepped into the world of consultancy, I had no idea what I was getting into! I didn’t even know what it entailed, but now I can say that this has been the best opportunity I’ve ever had in my life. What really sparked my interest was the chance to learn something entirely different from other disciplines. The unique way things are done in the Dynamics world, and how I could apply my knowledge and experience by implementing financial and inventory modules in several projects, were all very attractive to me.
Overcoming Challenges
Q: Can you share a challenging project you’ve worked on and how you overcame the obstacles?
Sofia Carrillo: I’d like to share my D365 beginning journey: my first implementation was in Production, and I had only a few months of experience. It was challenging because I was new and still learning most of the functionality. This pushed me to study a lot and prepare every night before the next day’s meetings with the client. In the end, I was able to support the deployment until the Go Live stage.
The Rewards of the Role
Q: What do you find most rewarding about your role as a Functional Consultant?
Sofia Carrillo: This might sound like a cliché, but for me, for me, it’s all about user satisfaction. The ability to solve issues and find errors and their corresponding solutions feels incredibly rewarding. Whether it’s during a deployment or any implementation, there’s often double pressure because you might be the only one who can resolve the issue. But in the end, when you solve it and see the relief on the user’s face because everything’s good, man! it’s a great feeling!
Staying Updated
Q: How do you stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in Dynamics 365?
Sofia Carrillo: Fortunately, Microsoft has an accessible Knowledge Base where you can find answers to many questions. I really enjoy searching for new functionalities, upgrade releases, and reading blogs and community publications about anything on D365 F&O. Lately, with the rise of AI, several articles have been released. I stay up-to-date by reading and investigating all those kinds of things.
Balancing Work and Life
Q: Outside of work, what are your hobbies and passions? How do they complement your professional life?
Sofia Carrillo: Like many people, I enjoy traveling and having the opportunity to visit new places, which is very rewarding. I also like going to the gym, meditating, watching soap operas, hiking, cooking, and definitely maintaining a work-life balance. These hobbies strongly complement my professional life because, you know, “work hard, play hard” is important. Anything that gives me a balance, allowing me to enjoy both my professional and personal life, is more than welcome.
